Men’s Club – Theatre Trip 12/12
The Men’s Club of Etz Chaim will experience a blast from the past when it attends the Rising Action Theatre’s production of “The Boys in the Band”. This classic gay play by Mart Crowley was a long-running hit and a major motion picture. In his Manhatten Upper East Side apartment, Michael is throwing a birthday party, complete with a surprise gift: Cowboy, a street hustler. As the evening wears on, fueled by drugs and alcohol, bitter unresolved conflicts among the guests come to light when a game of truth goes terribly wrong.
The Men’s Club “Boys in the Band” theatre party will be on Sunday, December 12 at 7pm. The Rising Action Theatre is located on the campus of the Sunshine Cathedral MCC, 1480 SW 9th Ave, Ft Lauderdale.
Tickets are $30 each, made out to the Men’s Club. RSVP’s must be made by Dec. 1.

Women’s Club – Kayaking! 12/12
The Women’s Club, for Jewish women and the women who love us, is having our next event on Sunday, Dec 12, from noon-2pm.
It’s time to go outside! We are getting together with WIN, so we expect a flotilla of the most fantastic women in South Florida to join us. We’ll meet at Richardson Park on Wilton Drive at 11:30am, to be sure to get enough time on the water. Cost will depend on the charge of the kayak company.
You must call/ email me as reservations are essential. This is going to be so much fun.
Kayaking is safe and appropriate even for those who have never done it before. Let’s Go!

December Shabbat Dinner 12/17
As Rabbi Noah mentioned in a recent Drash, the third time one does an activity it becomes a tradition. With that concept in mind, we are happy to officially announce a new Etz Chaim tradition of Friday Night Shabbat Dinners with our third community dinner scheduled for December 17th, 2010.
We will begin with Kiddush and HaMotzei at 6:30 pm, and then have a lovely dinner catered by TooJays restaurant. The cost is $20/person and reservations must be made in advance by Tuesday morning 12/14. As we prepare for the evening service held at its usual time of 8:00 pm, we will sing the melodies that traditionally accompany the Shabbat dinner. A special dessert Oneg will follow the service for everyone.
Welcoming Shabbat together as a community brings a unique warmth that is physically and spiritually satisfying. We look forward to growing this tradition together.
